MISSION
Unite efforts in Monteverde to lower emissions, capture carbon and adapt to climate change.

VISION
A Monteverde that captures much more carbon than we emit and that serves as a model for resilience to climate change.
The Monteverde Commission for Resilience to Climate Change (CORCLIMA), established in 2016, grew out of a public-private movement to address climate change. While CORCLIMA is a special commission of the Monteverde District Council, the Monteverde Community Fund serves as its fiscal agent.
Using the framework of the National Climate Change Strategy, CORCLIMA works in the following areas to mitigate and adapt to climate change:
- Energy – electricity, transportation, and liquid petroleum gas
- Agriculture, Livestock Forestry, and Land Use
- Consumption and Waste
- Reducing Vulnerabilities – Water, Tourism, Biodiversity,Health, Infrastructure, Fisheries and Coastal Zones
We do this by:
- Measuring our progress in reducing emissions and increasing carbon sequestration in the Monteverde District.
- Inspiring and empowering people to lower their emissions and capture more carbon.
- Building capacity to implement low-emission technologies.
- Mobilizing resources to support these activities.
