The Ruta Eléctrica Monteverde is a support network that enables travelers in electric vehicles to get to Monteverde. You can travel free of range anxiety, without polluting the air and enjoy yourself as you charge your vehicle.
The Ruta Eléctrica includes charging stations along the routes to Monteverde from San José, Jacó, Nosara, Liberia, and La Fortuna and within the Monteverde region.
Within Monteverde you will find an electric vehicle-friendly community with many restaurants, hotels, attractions, and other businesses that are happy to offer electricity to charge your vehicle.
Different charging options include:
- • Slow chargers (120V) Takes approximately 10 hours for a full charge,
- • Fast chargers (240V) Takes approximately 3 hours for a full charge, and
- • Super-rapid chargers. Takes approximately 20 minutes for a full charge.
With this guide map you can find charging stations with activities to enjoy while you charge. With the exception of ICE chargers, you can charge your vehicle at businesses participating in the Ruta Eléctrica at no additional cost while you eat, shop, rest or enjoy the tourist attractions in the area.
We hope that soon charging stations will be offered throughout the country as an automatic service, in the same way that WiFi is offered free of charge. Together we are accelerating the transition to electric mobility and the decarbonization of the national economy.
